"Do what you please, follow your own star, be original if you want to be and don't if you don't want to be. Just be natural and light-hearted and pretty and simple and over flowing and general and baroque and bare and austere and stylised and wild and daring and conservative and learn and learn and learn. Open your mind to every form of beauty." Constance Spry

Join Twisted Sisters, Moss & Stone and Lucy The Flower Hunter for an exciting two day FOAM FREE workshop at the stunning and historic venue, Broadfield. Set in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside this workshop will be held within the house and grounds using an abundance of seasonal, freshly harvested flowers and foliage from the Twisted Sisters Flower Farm. You will be encouraged to explore, go wild and loose with your creations!

The workshop will be intensive and is designed in such a way it enables you to maximise your time spent with us. All the best flowers and foliage will be cut from the farm and conditioned ready for you to 'just' create. In a relaxed, friendly, inspiring environment with no pressure, we will give you the opportunity to create bouquets, urns, hanging arrangements, tablescape and more. You will be able to work at your own pace but at the same time we will encourage you to capture as many portfolio images as flowers and time permits.

Aimed at anyone with an interest in floral design, from beginners wanting to establish portfolios, to florists and designers who would like to refresh theirs, everyone is welcome even if you just want a couple of days away creating. Wherever you feel you fit into this picture, help will be on hand and additionally we advocate open discussions in order to get the most from the workshop. Lydia, our chosen professional photographer will be in attendance to capture the beauty in your creations.

Our collaborative partners Lucy The Flower Hunter and Moss and Stone will to many need very little introduction. Two of the UK’s most talented floral designers, they are both admired and respected by many here and internationally. The typical English Garden features strongly in both Lucy’s and Brigitte’s character of work, working with the flowers and foliage allowing each and every stem to naturally sit comfortably in an arrangement which makes all the difference. A great knowledge and understanding of colour and texture adds a special edge to their designs which are very much admired and coveted.

Autumn has to be our favourite season of the flowering calendar here at Twisted Sisters. The foliage on trees turn a spectrum of wonderfully interesting colours, many flowers transition to berries providing a welcome source of nourishment for our feathered friends and many a floral designer. Textures, colour, interest, autumn has them all in abundance. The perfect time to come together and feed off each other, to learn, experiment, create and capture.

We’re starting off this years September Spry with the big installation. Collective discussion will be had on how attendees, alongside Brigitte of Moss and Stone and Melissa of Twisted Sisters, will create a exuberant tablescape and hanging arrangement in the outdoor loggia area of Broadfield. We will build and create the groups choice of elaborate installation pieces, combine and explore what opportunities the venue has to offer such a beams and textured walls, as well as the possibility of using other freestanding structures. Lydia will capture beautiful, atmospheric images and these will be sent to you for use after the workshop.

During the morning, Lucy will demonstrate her style of a large urn arrangement. She will talk you through her techniques and thoughts when choosing and placing elements within the arrangement before each attendee creates their own urn under her guidance. Melissa and Brigitte will also be on hand to help.

This will be followed by an afternoon of bouquet making with Brigitte, alongside styling of the urns with Lucy and capturing gorgeous images. Explanation, demonstration and practice of a hand tied bouquet using the abundance of seasonal blooms at hand. You will have the opportunity to style your creations, a selection of ribbons and backdrops will be supplied to add those finishing touches.

Broadfield provides many opportunities to photograph your work so that you have a gorgeous bank of images for your portfolio

Melissa has enjoyed learning and gaining different skills and styles of floristry from many respected and established creatives in the industry. From Katie at Ponderosa and Thyme to Soil and Stem, Jay Archer, Kiana Underwood(Tulipina), (and more!).

Melissa hails from a design background exhibiting at prestigious venues such as Somerset House and Southwark Cathedral (London). She likes to think outside the box, loves a challenge and is known to push the boundaries on any brief that she is given.

Inspired and intrigued by nature Melissa will quite often explore a more unusual or off beat avenue in her creations. She loves nothing more than (chocolate!) quirky elements and textures in her work.

She has never used floral foam in her own creations and is always thinking and researching different foam free ways to create.

Lucy has had a love of gardens and flowers from a very young age. By day, she is an award winning landscape designer with a fine arts degree and it is possibly through her extensive knowledge of plants and the native landscape that she has naturally found her way into the world of floral design. Her love of art allows Lucy to see her floral designs in a ‘painterly’ way and it shows. Wonky stems and imperfections are top of Lucy’s list of ingredients as they bring charm and natural aesthetic to any arrangement.

The perfect partnership some might think, Lucy had the privilege and honour to be asked to create the floral display for the letters at RHS Chelsea last year (which was so beautiful).

Lucy’s floral designs are adored by many, as well as her fabulous anecdotes on her Sunday morning instagram posts. Her Instagram account is envied by all!

She has a husband, a teenager and Wilson! 😁

Brigitte's floral story began about ten years ago when she trained as a florist. Since then she has been lucky enough to work and learn from some of the flower world’s best designers as a freelance florist.

Realising the importance of ongoing personal growth Brigitte continues to seek out and be invigorated by workshops and classes run by internationally recognised designers, which then inspires and informs her own work.

Brigitte is inspired and nurtured by the fresh awakenings of each changing season drawing on the traditions of English gardens and the wild beauty of the Suffolk countryside around her. Preferring to use flowers and foliage naturally available at their peak of perfection maintains an honesty and enchantment for herself and her clients.

Debbie is the flower grower at Twisted Sisters. After retiring and settling the family in Herefordshire, she found her new calling in life, in the middle of a field, on her own, covered in mud, on their little piece of England. From sowing to cutting the lifespan of the plants excites her and to see the flowers being used at the end stage by creative floral designers.

For the two day workshop, expect copious amounts of beautiful British Blooms including exquisite garden roses, delightful dahlias, pretty cosmos, a myriad of colourful autumnal foliages and fabulously textured dried elements to name a few.

Photographically, Lydia loves nothing more than capturing the finer details. She enjoys travelling the world with landscape and botanical photography being a particular love. When she’s not travelling extensively she is a wedding and brand photographer with many clients eager to work with her and its easy to see why. Lydia caught our eye with her sophisticated imagery, beautiful aesthetic and consistency, you can tell she loves her work. Here at Twisted Sisters we very much champion out of the ordinary and those artists who are prepared to blur the lines from what is considered 'normal'. We feel that Lydia will bring style and edge to the workshop images that professionals and attendees will be thrilled to use.

Lydia will be in attendance during the 2 day workshop to capture you and your creations.
